Since it’s inception in 1971, the Foundation Fighting Blindness has raised more than $300 million dollars for research to provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Usher Syndrome, and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.  The Foundation Fighting Blindness has funded some of the most critical breakthroughs in the treatment of retinal diseases.  One note:  Since the Foundation Fighting Blindness provides funding for a number of different disorders, you should specify that your donation is to be targeted for 'Usher Syndrome related research' if that is your desire.

The Decibels Foundation is dedicated to helping children with hearing loss live happier lives.  Programs funded by the Decibels Foundation support kids from birth to the time that they enter a mainstream environment and beyond.  More importantly, they help the kids indirectly by first helping their parents learn how to raise a child with hearing loss then helping school systems understand what it takes to educate a child with hearing loss.
