Choosing the Right School for You

Choosing the right college is not an easy decision for anyone because every school has its pros and cons. There is no such thing as the perfect school meaning the college that has it all. Deciding the right college means finding your “icing on the cake” – the factor that is most important to you. These factors can include disability services, programs, social life, etc. In high school, my guidance counselor would constantly remind us to determine our “icing on the cake” by telling her story about finding a school with soft-served ice cream. Several members of the Usher community have decided to share their advice with us on what to look for in a college.

"When looking for the right college, it is vital that you consider what you want to get out of your college experience. Some people prioritize socializing and getting to know the people on their campus, and others focus on their academics and career-oriented goals. Finding the right balance is a challenge, and something you most likely will be continually figuring out as you work through your undergraduate career. "
