How do I communicate with my instructors?

Are you a student with Usher syndrome? Would you like to share experiences with your college professors? Contact us here: info@usher-syndrome.org

Communication with your professors is fundamental to success not only in college but in life. Regardless of the school size, you should always keep open communication with your instructors on what is or is not working for you. Your professors will be writing your letters of recommendations when you apply to grad school, internships, or other opportunities. Young adults of the Usher community share their experiences of working with and communicating with  faculty on campus.

  • "When communicating with your instructors, it is important to maintain the importance of your accommodations. Be as open and honest as you want, but remember that you are in no way obligated to disclose the details of your disability to your professors. "
