Over six years have passed since the last International Symposium on Usher Syndrome, USH2018, was held in Mainz, Germany. We are thrilled to announce that USH2025, the 5th International Symposium on Usher Syndrome, will take place in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, on June 19, 20 and 21, 2025.
(Please note: The Usher Syndrome Coalition now hosts our hybrid USH Connections Conference, in person and online, every other year. The USH2026 Connections Conference is scheduled for July 17-19, 2026 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America, five minutes from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.)
The USH2025 symposium is spearheaded by Stichting Ushersyndroom, the Dutch Usher Syndroom Foundation in The Netherlands. Stichting Ushersyndroom, along with the Usher Syndrome Coalition and a number of international Usher-related organizations have joined forces for the organization of USH2025. This is done in close collaboration with committed scientists from Radboud University Medical Center in The Netherlands, Boston Children's Hospital, and several universities in the United States.
SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE
Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th, 2025
Scientists and researchers from around the world will share their knowledge and provide status reports on current research and new developments. The goal of the Scientific Conference is to connect and encourage collaborations and crossovers between different fields of expertise.
Registration Fees for the Scientific Conference:
Scientists/Patient Association/Member of USH Community:
- Early bird: €450 – until January 10
- Normal: €550 – from January 10 to April 19
- Last minute: €650 – after April 19
Students/PhD Candidates:
- Early bird: €250 – until January 10
- Normal: €350 – January 10 to April 19
- Last minute: €450 – after April 19
Commercial Organization Representatives:
- €1000 throughout the entire period.

USH2025 CONGRESTIVAL
Saturday, June 21st, 2025
At the USH2025 Congrestival (Saturday), compelling contributions and stories from the first two days will be shared with the USH community. The Congrestival will be a positive and inspiring Festival of the Senses highlighting the possibilities of living with Usher syndrome. This will be a stimulating experience that can be experienced and shared equally by everyone, with or without Usher syndrome.
Alongside a plenary program, you can join workshops and sessions, experience science and art, and listen to stories and music. The USH2025 Congrestival will target all your senses and aims to be an exciting and inclusive event for all.
Registration Fee for the Congrestival:
- €75 per person
There will also be a separate program for children. More information to follow.
Friday Evening Social Event:

Hotel options include the Van der Valk (where USH2025 will take place) and the Mercure Hotel (a 5 minute commute by train).
